Early mid-Iowa train passengers had to cross a shaky-looking wooden bridge southwest of the Story City intersection on U.S. Highway 69. The line, constructed in 1875, was later purchased by the Chicago & North Western Railroad which replaced the bridge and widened the track, which was still in use in 1990.(Photo source: Don Faas glass plate negatives collection).
