Originally a dormitory for me, built in 1880 with an addition in 1882, known as the West Dormitory or the Boarding Cottage-West. Located immediately south of the present (1991)Student Services Building and west of Alumni Hall. It served as a campus hospital from 1907 until 1918 when the new hospital was constructed. After that, this building was used as a detention ward for patients who needed to be quarantined; thus, it came to be known as the "Pest House." The building was razed in 1934. This photo taken any time after 1886 when the porch was added.
