Loughran Machine Co.float in the 4th of July parade, 1898. Loughran's was the Ames dealer for McCormick farm equipment. The parade is moving east along Onondaga (Main) Street near the Duff Avenue corner. The Civil War veterans are in the foreground of the photo. Nichols Livery, Feed & Sale Stable is seen in the background on the left. The Davis Hotel (later called the Ames Hotel) on the northwest corner of Duff is seen behind the trees in the upper right of the photo. Five-year-old Steve Loughran is in the binder seat; his older sister Faith and their "little" aunt, Lydia Belle Brown, are riding in the buggy. The father of Steve and Faith and the owner of the company, Stephen L. Loughran, is holding the reins of the horses.
