The Park House in Sac City, Iowa, had its own taxicab ("horse-drawn hack") to transport businessmen from the train station to the hotel and back again. This hotel was one that was frequented by Kendrick Wade Brown (Farwell Tilden Brown's grandfather) when he sold men's clothing to stores in the midwest for his New York employer. K. W. Brown's career as a commercial traveler or "knight of the grip" began in 1872 and spanned 42 years. The stories he wrote about his experiences can be found in "Ames in Word and Picture; Book Three: Tales of Two Old-Timers," 2003. The Park House was later converted to apartments, but still [2006] exists in Sac City.
