A gathering of friends from the First Baptist Church in Ames, Iowa, celebrate the 73rd birthday of George T. Stebbins. This photograph is from the album of Margaret Mitchell Brown, step-grandmother of Farwell T. Brown. Margaret Brown is number 7 in the photograph; her husband, K. W. Brown, is number 13. Mr. Stebbins is probably number 16, since he is seated in the center front (possibly with his wife, number 17) in a place of honor. The photograph was taken on August 26, 1904. George Stebbins is listed as a carpenter in the 1897 Ames city directory and his place of residence is listed as 1008 Duff Avenue. Others in the photograph can no longer be identified.
