The (J.) Galen and Ina Tilden home on the west side of Douglas Avenue (911 Douglas), the second house north of Nineth Street. This photograph was taken shortly after the house was built in 1905. Compared with the same house (ID 185.1051.1-5) taken in about 1915, it is clear that the house was altered substantially on the first floor during its first decade. The house to the right of in this photograph is the home of Galen Tilden's mother, Lydia Cooper Tilden. Her original house, which she shared with her husband George and their five children, stands to the left of the central house in this photograph. After George died, she moved into the smaller house on the right which she had built for her.
