Family tent encampment on Chautauqua ground (north portion of present [1991] Ames Municipal Cemetery) in 1908. K. W. Brown family in front of tent. It was customary for people to camp on grounds during week in August when Chautauqua was held. Newspaper listed names of people with camping reservations each year. Popcorn wagon can be seen in background on the right. This same wagon was usually parked on the corner of Douglas and Onondaga (Main) streets. (See also: 24.120C.3; 89.473.2-3)
