Looking east on Onondaga (after 1910, Main Street) from the Kellogg Avenue corner as two men alight from the Fort Dodge, Des Moines & Southern interurban streetcar which is headed east (note the direction of the trolley). The power plant smoke stack can be seen in the background and this provides a directional orientation for the photograph. In the right corner of the photograph (the south side of the street) can be seen a sports car with bucket seats. Across the street, on the north side of Onondaga, two men can be seen loading (or unloading) a horse-drawn buggy--this is clearly a transition period for personal transportation. A small watering trough can be seen on the northeast corner. Carr Hardware is seen on the north side of the street (later it moved to the south side of Main Street). The tallest building on the north side is the Odd Fellows building (constructed in 1901; destroyed by fire, December, 1917). The street has wood block paving. (See also: 9.36.1; 9.39.1-2. Another copy of this photograph, showing more of the southeast corner and less of the northeast corner is 34.173.2)
