The Iowa State College Meat Lab was constructed in 1914. It was sometimes called Pew's Chapel because it resembled a church and because Professor Pew, head of the Animal Husbandry Department (later, the Animal Science Department), contributed to its design. Note the streetcar tracks at the left. Trolley service circled the campus starting in 1914. Not all campus drives were paved at that time. (See also: 172.960.4-5; 172.961.3-5)
