Movie actress Anita King's car, the Kissel Kar, parked in front of the Princess Theatre located on the north side of Main Street. Note the wording on the side of the car. One of the Ames pennants given to her by former Mayor Tilden is hanging on the side of the car. Photo taken March 23, 1915. The Princess was at 117 Main Street (The building later was renumbered 115 Main Street.) The sign in the window to the left of the entrance advertised a serial "The Diamond From the Sky" that was appearing each Thursday at the time. A sign on the windshield of the car advanced the cause of Firestone tires. Was this photo taken while Miss King was in the nearby restaurant enjoying a cool root beer before her departure from Ames? She drove next to Des Moines and the following day she was to be in Boone before heading eastward. (See also: 136.747.6)
