The road in this Iowa Highway Commission photograph is not identified (it could be Lincoln Way). The Model T Ford on the right was probably made around 1916. The horse-drawn wagon in the left of the photograph also recalls a time when both motor and animal-drawn vehicles shared the roads. The new Highway Commission took many photographs of cars on muddy roads to demonstrate the need for paving.
