In 1916, Effie Coover (wife of ISC chemistry professor, Winfred F. Coover) conducted a preschool-age program in her home which was located on the ISC campus (where Welch West dormitory now [1994] stands).The boy at the table in the right rear of the photo is six-year-old Farwell Brown. Dorothy Pew is sitting opposite him. Bob Hammer is the boy up front on the left. Ames schools did not yet include a kindergarten.
