Lucian Cooper Tilden, born in Vermont, moved to Ames as an infant in 1869 with his parents, George G. and Lydia Cooper Tilden, from Vermont. George G. Tilden opened the store which would become the Tilden Store Company. This cartoon of Lou Tilden appeared in the November 15, 1917, "Ames Evening Times" series called "Our Men of Affairs."
