Ames High School when new (built in 1912). Photo taken sometime after 1917 when street was paved. Later building was expanded on south and north ends, making end classrooms about 8 to 10 feet longer than they were when this photo taken. Building was razed in 1981. Served as Central Junior High after new high school built across the street to the west in 1937 and as east building for Central after new high school built at 20th and Ridgewood in 1961.
