Iowa State College's Chemistry Hall [Building] in the 1920s. Chemistry Hall, directly north of the library, was built in 1913 by architects Proudfoot, Bird & Rawson and builders McCarthy Improvement Co. of Davenport. It was significantly remodeled in 1954, 1956, 1960, and 1963. This photograph shows the east side of the building and the north entrance off of Osborn Drive. In June, 1973, by action of the Iowa Board of Regents, Chemistry Hall was renamed Gilman Hall to honor the long-time head of the Department of Chemistry, Henry Gilman.
