Walter L. Foster (1883-1934), taught surveying in the civil engineering department of Iowa State College from 1920 to 1934. He was also on the summer faculty from 1924 through 1933. Here he is shown getting his hair cut at the engineering department's summer encampment in northern Minnesota at Rainy Lake near International Falls. Iowa State had two summer camps, one for engineering students and one for forestry students, in Minnesota. The area where the camps were held was later designated part of Voyageurs National Park.
