The Tilden Store Co., 1935. On the north side of Main Street, the women's departments on the left side, both floors; men's department on the right (connected by an arch on the inside). Rugs and draperies on the second floor over the men's store; children's dept. in the basement. A passenger elevator served all three floors. The grocery department originally occupied the entire back side of the building, with its front facing Douglas Avenue to the east (right of the picture). In about 1915, the grocery took over the building across the alley to the north.
