Taken from the Main Street bridge over Grand Avenue, looking south toward the Chicago & North Western Railroad bridge. The Interurban Railroad depot is the small building in the right center of the photograph. The interurban (Fort Dodge, Des Moines & Southern Railroad) depot originally was located directly next to Grand Avenue, but was moved further west to accommodate the new Grand Avenue underpass. The small buildings behind the depot are the buildings belonging to the Iowa Highway Commission. When the Grand Avenue underpass was first constructed there were three overpasses: from north to south, they were the Main Street bridge; the C & NW bridge; and angling across, the interurban track (which can be seen in this photo).
