Photo from the 1940s shows women's dormitories (Welch Hall, Roberts Hall, and Lyon Hall) in the courtyard area off of Knoll Road on the Iowa State College campus, opposite the Knoll (residence of Iowa State presidents and their families). View looks westerly toward the east or "rear" sides of Roberts and Lyon dormitories. Lyon Hall was built in 1914; Roberts Hall, in 1935/1936; and Welch Hall, in 1928/1929 (remodeled in 1969/1971).
