William G. Gaessler, once a professor of chemistry at Iowa State College, and his wife Myrtle Bihl Gaessler, standing in front of their house at 1212 Park Way in Ames on the occasion of Myrtle Gaessler's 70th birthday on July 7, 1962. Mrs. Gaessler died in 1965; Professor Gaessler, in 1985. Mrs. Gaessler was once the executive secretary of the Camp Fire organization in Ames and her husband was also very involved in the development of the group.
