Farwell Brown took this photo in Backbone State Park in 1985 of the south end of the park's lake. The small river that runs through the park is dammed at this point and forms the lake. The timber to the left is one of the park's two camping areas. Among the trees on the right are cabins which are rented to vacationers. This park, located in northeast Iowa near Strawberry Point, has been a popular retreat for many Ames residents. The lake has been unavailable for swimmers (2001) because of pollution.
