In March, 1989, at the Story County Courthouse in Nevada (Iowa), the Story County Board of Supervisors officially designated a two-mile stretch of road that connects county roads R50 and R38 in western Story County as the Cameron School Road. The action was the result of efforts by Virginia Sinclair of rural Ames to recognize one of Story County's earliest pioneers, Henry C. Cameron. In the summer of 1989, signs designating Cameron School Road were put into place my volunteers. In this photo, from left, to right are Virginia Sinclair; Art Smith (by the truck with post in hand) of Nevada; Bob Sinclair (Virginia's husband); Del Jespersen, of Ames; and Dr. David E. Hughes (in the straw hat)of rural Ames.
