The west end of the shelter on the south side of the Ames Chicago & North Western Railroad depot. This photograph was taken by Farwell Brown in about 1992 when the City of Ames was considering the sale of the depot. The tracks were not yet moved away to the right as was the case later. The depot was sold to Hubbell Realty in 1993. In the photograph, you can see how the tracks curve in. The depot building itself is straight, but the shelter curves in, following the curve of the tracks.
