This is a photograph of the Iowa State University dairy farm. Farwell Brown took this shot in 1998 as an illustration for Chapter 33 of his book "Ames in Word and Picture, Book Two," pp. 115-116, published in 1999. The story of Chapter 33 is set in 1932. He explains that there was a board fence where the wire fence/feeding station is in the foreground of this photo. The barn near the road was a horse barn then. The shed at the far left may have been in the location of a calf shed in 1932.
