Library Director Candidates to Visit Ames

Ames Public Library's Director Search Committee has been hard at work reviewing candidates to replace retired Library Director Lynne Carey.

Following several video conference interviews, two finalists have been invited for interviews and public presentations in March.

Amy Phillips, current Division Manager of Adult and Technical Services at Loveland Public Library in Colorado, will give a public presentation Thursday, March 7 at 4pm in the Library's Auditorium.

Closed Presidents' Day for Staff Training

Ames Public Library is closed to the public every year on Presidents' Day, but there's still a lot of activity in the building!

This February 18, Library staff will be here for a variety of training sessions, presentations, and activities. This is a rare opportunity for all staff members to meet at the same time without interruption, so we pack it as full as we can!

Wi-fi Hotspots

Need Internet? Check out a Hotspot!

Ames Public Library now has Wi-Fi Hotspots available for free checkout thanks to the Ames Public Library Friends Foundation! Borrow a Hotspot to use the internet at home or on the road. Hotspots use cellular networks to connect you to the internet, so you can get online from your computer, tablet, or other wireless devices.

Hotspots can be checked out for one week at a time. You can reserve a Hotspot through the Library's online catalog.

Library Director Search Continues

After completing extensive on-site interviews with three finalists, the Ames Public Library Board of Trustees announced it will continue its search for the next Library Director. The Board had entered negotiations with a selected candidate, who withdrew for family considerations.
