Topic — Ames Oddities: A Pictorial Tour

Speaker — Kathy Svec, museum volunteer, with help from Sharon Wirth, Bob Bourne, and Alex Fejfar

All around Ames are certain structures and features that are odd-looking, have a strange shape, or don’t seem to fit into the rest of their surroundings. Some are remnants of past landscape features, some were influenced by historic decisions that are hardly remembered in the current day.

We’ll take a pictorial tour of these “oddities” and relate the fascinating and sometimes quirky reasons why these things are the way they are. Perhaps those “oddities” will make more sense and you’ll see our city with new eyes.
