Program Details
The local Mirage Dance Troupe is a transcultural fusion (belly) dance troupe that has been holding practices at the library for two decades.
To show their appreciation for the community's support, and to celebrate the community that belly dance provides for women, they are excited to present an International Women’s Day Hafla (hahf-la). A hafla is an informal dance performance featuring a variety of numbers and ending with an open group dance!
Mirage will perform a mixture of traditional and modern (fusion) dances and educate the audience about the beauty of one of the oldest surviving forms of dance. They will also be joined by another local group, Tribal Muse.
The performance will be followed by a short intermission. Then, there will be a movement lesson for interested folks as well as an optional group dance.
Presented in partnership with Ames Public Library and Mirage Dance Troupe.
