A report about homelessness in Story County will be presented on Monday, April 28. The public is welcome to attend the event, which will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Ave.
The Ames City Council and Story County Board of Supervisors hired the consulting firm Analytic Insight to analyze existing data and provide recommendations on service gaps, collaboration opportunities, and best practices in assisting the homeless population in Story County. Dr. Amy Flowers will present the Homelessness Action Plan in the Farwell T. Brown Auditorium. Following the presentation will be an opportunity for questions and answers.
The presentation represents a collaboration between the Analysis of Social Services Evaluation Team (ASSET) funders, the City of Ames, Story County, United Way of Story County, and the Iowa State University Student Government.
“This report accomplishes an important first step in our efforts to better understand and serve our unhoused neighbors,” said Pa Vang Goldbeck, Assistant City Manager and City staff liaison to ASSET. “We look forward to sharing the report with the public and working together with community partners on actionable next steps.”
Copies of the report will be available after the meeting on the City’s website (www.CityOfAmes.org under City Manager). The presentation will be recorded, and a copy of the presentation will be available in the video archive of the City’s website by May 1.
