Program Description
Program Details
Bees and butterflies and beetles, oh my! Flying, swimming, crawling, and climbing, insects are all around us. Come learn more about ISU’s Iowa Insect Pageant – a unique interdisciplinary, multiform, insect extravaganza, where our smallest Iowa neighbors are made large through puppetry, music, and movement.
During this event you’ll get to hear from project leaders about how the puppets and music were created, see some for yourself, and have a chance to make your very own Iowa Insect puppet.
After the program, we invite you to bring your puppets to the 2pm performance of the Iowa Insect Pageant at Bandshell Park for an insect puppet parade!
Presented in partnership with Ames Public Library, Iowa State University Department of Music and Theatre, and Iowa State University Department of Entomology.
Ames Public Library connects you to the world of ideas through diverse and inclusive resources and programs. We welcome proposals via our website for programs at www.amespubliclibrary.org/programproposal and exhibits at https://www.amespubliclibrary.org/exhibit-proposal.
