Join us for a second year of poetry and community in the heart of Iowa, featuring local, regional and international talent with expanded opportunities to experience poetry!

Come check out an exhibit entitled “Welcome to Iowa, Letters to Carps and Other Immigrants” as part of the Signal Poetry Festival.

Kartika Budhwar's essay, "Welcome to Iowa: Letters to Carps and Other Immigrants" is a series of letter-poems to invasive and non-native plant species in exploration of the immigrant's experience in Iowa.  Curator Crystal Stone brought together several artists to present an immersive and visual representation of five poems from the work.  Watercolor paintings by Keygan Sands and Jane Marie Degeneffe which will be featured alongside the selections.  An immersive avant-garde video featuring Budwar’s prose and poetry and life and an interactive history of immigration in Iowa will both be on display.

The exhibit will open during the Signal Poetry Festival’s evening performances.
