Routines
0-6 Months:
- Global Baby Bedtimes by Maya Ajmera
This book does not have a lot of words, which is what makes it so perfect for younger ages. The book includes a picture of a baby from a different country on every page, and talks about how they are sleeping/going to bed. This would be a great book to look at with children to let them see that there are babies that look different from them, but that all babies go to bed!
- The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Bounton
This board book includes many different animals and the steps to going to bed. First they take a bath, hang their towels, find pajamas, brush their teeth, exercise, and finally go to bed. This book rhymes and has colorful and fun illustrations so young children would love to listen to it.
- Llama Llama Nighty-Night by Anna Dewdney
This board book features Llamas, with the baby Llama going through the steps for bed. Eating dinner, brushing teeth, taking a bath, and reading a bedtime story is what the Llama does before bed. The books includes very colorful illustrations that young eyes would love. There is also a lot of rhyming words, so it would be fun for children to listen to
6-12 Months:
- Bathtime for Chickies by Janee Trasler
This board book includes adorable chickies taking a bath. It includes a list of the stuff they are washing and how to get clean. This book is very comical in the fact that every time the chickies get clean, they get dirty again and have to take another bath. This book rhymes and includes fun illustrations that children would love.
- Before I Go to Sleep by Ronne Randall
In this board book, a young child is getting ready for bed. Mommy kisses them goodnight, and Daddy reads a story. The young child thens goes on to imagine where their teddy bear and kitty go at night, and it creates an imaginative story. This would be a great bedtime book to read and features colorful, but not too distracting illustrations.
12-24 Months:
- Let’s Wash Up! by Patricia Geis
In this book, the main character gets very messy, and has to wash up. This book goes through the steps of washing your hands, face, drying off, brushing teeth, and combing hair. This would be a great book to read when children are starting to help wash themselves, or to discuss how washing up is fun and good to do. The illustrations in this book are very colorful and cute.
- Clean-Up Time by Elizabeth Verdick
In this colorful board book, children are playing and it is time to clean up. Everyone works together and goes through the steps up cleaning up and how to do it. This book features diverse children and colorful illustrations. It would be a great book to help teach children to clean up, and how them how other kids do it.
