Library Director Search Continues
After completing extensive on-site interviews with three finalists, the Ames Public Library Board of Trustees announced it will continue its search for the next Library Director. The Board had entered negotiations with a selected candidate, who withdrew for family considerations.
“Although it is unfortunate we were unable to name one of these finalists the next Ames Public Library Director, the Board of Trustees is looking forward to the next steps in the search process,” said Board of Trustees Chair Charles Glatz. “The Ames Public Library is a terrific asset to the community, and it is important that we identify the best person possible to lead it into the future. We are very appreciative of the interest shown by the community and staff at the public presentations. It made quite an impression on the candidates.”
The Library Board of Trustees will meet in the coming weeks to discuss its options to continue the search process.
After more than 30 years with the Library, current Director Lynne Carey plans to retire in 2019. The Ames Public Library Director is responsible for all fiscal, operational, and personnel activities necessary to achieve the Library’s mission, goals, and objectives. The Library Director reports directly to the Library Board of Trustees, which is leading the director search.
