Topic: Ames Does Its Homework: Public Schools Meet the Next Century
Presenter: Douglas Biggs, Professor of History, University of Nebraska-Kearney
From about 1890 to 1900, the Ames public school district was growing - especially after 1893 when west Ames was annexed into the city limits. How were students on the west side of Ioway Creek accommodated in facilities and how did students travel to meet their daily classes?
Biggs will explore these questions about daily school life as the Ames Community School District marks its Sesquicentennial.
