Topic -- Cats are Fur Indoors
Presenter -- Matt Wetrich and Marlene Ehresman
Keeping cats indoors can be vital to the health and safety of those pets, as well as for the safety of our rapidly declining wild bird populations, to which cats are among the worst dangers. Come learn about the idea of a "catio"—a small, enclosed patio for pet cats to use for enjoying the outdoors without harming birds.
Matt Wetrich is Naturalist for the Carroll County Conservation Board and a member of the Jefferson Iowa City Council. His specialties are bird photography and identification.
Marlene Ehresman is the founder and executive director of the Iowa Wildlife Center in Ames, a licensed wildlife rehabilitation facility. She was a also former staff member of the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.
