Purpose of Meeting
To provide Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) to YSS employees, organizations and community members.
MHFA is designed to improve participants’ knowledge and modify their attitudes and perceptions about mental health and related issues, including how to respond to individuals who are experiencing one or more acute mental health issues.
Suicidal thoughts and/or behavior, acute stress reaction, panic attacks, and/or acute psychotic behavior
Depressive, anxiety and/or psychotic disorders, which may occur with substance abuse.
MHFA will:
Teach you how better to understand, identify and support someone suffering from mental illness/health
Takes the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health/substance use problems
Provides an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental illness/substance use disorder.
