Join us for a free online presentation to mark Iowa’s 175th anniversary of statehood!
Iowa was part of Michigan and Wisconsin Territories until 1838 when it began to be ruled by the federal government. Nominally a free territory, slavery was tolerated, if limited. By the end of 1846 Iowa’s boasted 100,000 people and had joined the union.
