Aldo Leopold said “The landscape of any farm is the owner’s portrait of himself.” Larry Stone, lead writer for Iowa Department of Natural Resources award-winning book Iowa – Portrait of the Land, will give this month's presentation at the Library. Stone’s presentation, like the book, tells the story of the rich land that became our state. It explores Iowa’s geological foundation, its natural communities, the history of its peoples, our precious wild places, the past abuse of our resources, and the challenges of sustaining this land that gives us life.
Provided in partnership with Ames Public Library and the Big Bluestem Audubon Society. Supported by Humanities Iowa a private, non‐profit state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
