Topic — Did You Listen to Your Ancestors?
Speaker — Dr. Paul Lasley
Based upon his 40+ years of teaching rural sociology at Iowa State University, Dr. Lasley has quizzed students about the lessons they learned from their parents as a way to introduce the cultural transmission of rural values. Through adages, metaphors and “front porch sayings”, values and experiences of our ancestors were engrained in our upbringing that shape who we are.
